Trail
A 16 km walking, cycling and horse riding trail
in the
Bass Coast region near Phillip Island

Kilcunda - Kilcunda Foreshore Reserve: 1km

George Bass
Coastal Walk
A 7 km, 2 hour one way walking trail with a good
surface
and a gentle grade, between
Kilcunda and the Punchbowl
Car Park. This scenic trail overlooks
the secluded
beaches and Bass Straight. You'll
discover a variety of flora
including coast
banksias,
coast beard heath, sea box and
coast tea-tree.
Screw Creek Nature
Walk
A 1.5 km, 40 minute return walking trail, which starts
at the
eastern end of the Inverloch
Foreshore
Camping Reserve. The
trail leads through the tall
coast Tea Tree, over the
estuarine
creek, through
white mangroves, coastal dunes, salt water
swamps, melaleuca
thickets and grasslands to reach the
lookout on Townsend Bluff. On the way there
is a short
detour to a fishing platform.
Wonthaggi
Wetlands:
A flat and easy 2km walk with several bush land paths. Start at
Dudley
Road
(opposite the Pony Club) and finish further along
Dudley Road.
Number 5 Brace:
A flat and easy 3km rural walk except for a steep climb up the
shale heap
(not necessary). You can inspect historic buildings
along the way.
Wonthaggi North Primary School Wildlife Reserve:
A 3 - 4 km round trip walk. Start in White Road (West side of
the school). Best months are September to November.
Tank Hill:
An easy 3km rural round trip walk. Start at Stewart Street (wet
in
winter),
Reed Crescent or Caledonian Crescent.
Heathlands Loop:
A scenic easy 4km round trip walk through tracks (can be wet
from May
to November). See native plants. Start at Car Park
in Chisholm's
Road.
Bird Hide:
A 1.5km bush track walk. View commonly seen water fowls.
Start at
West Area Road and finish in Campbell Street.
